Snowy River Caravans Celebrates David Reynolds' 500th Supercars Start
Snowy River Caravans celebrated a major milestone alongside Team 18, as star driver David Reynolds reached his 500th start in the Supercars Championship during Race 10 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship at the ITM Christchurch Super440.
Originally scheduled to reach the milestone in Taupō, Reynolds' 500th start was postponed following the cancellation of Sunday's event due to Cyclone Vaianu, before being officially achieved in Christchurch.
"David's 500th race is an incredible achievement in arguably the most competitive motorsport category in the world," said Snowy River Caravans CEO Andrew Crank. "It's a testament to David's performance, perseverance, and passion for the sport. We're proud to support him and Team 18 as they continue to embody the same values we hold at Snowy River Caravans: resilience, performance, and the joy of the journey."
Special Livery and Celebrations
To commemorate the occasion, the Snowy River Racing Chevrolet carried the special #500 race number for the event. Team 18 also marked the milestone with a limited edition celebratory t-shirt available trackside in Christchurch, reflecting the originally scheduled Taupō milestone.
As part of the celebrations, Reynolds joined fans at the Snowy River Caravans display in merchandise alley, followed by an autograph session at the Team 18 merchandise stand.
Reynolds' journey to 500 race starts spanned nearly two decades, beginning with co-driver appearances in 2007 and 2008 before stepping into a full time seat in 2009. Since then, he has established himself as one of the sport's most consistent and competitive drivers, highlighted by his victory at the Bathurst 1000 in 2017.
Personality and Performance
Beyond results, Reynolds has become one of the most recognisable and entertaining personalities in the paddock. Known for his spontaneous celebrations and authentic approach to media, he has built a strong connection with fans across Australia and New Zealand, reflecting the same sense of adventure and enjoyment that sits at the heart of the Snowy River brand.
Since joining Team 18 in 2024, Reynolds has played a key role in the team's continued growth, contributing to its development as Chevrolet's homologation partner. His impact was evident in 2025 with a standout second place finish at the Bathurst 1000 alongside Lee Holdsworth, a milestone moment for the team.
Team 18 Owner Charlie Schwerkolt said reaching 500 races reflected both Reynolds' longevity and his character.
"500 races is a massive achievement, and it says a lot about the kind of driver and person Dave is. To compete at this level for that long, stay competitive and still love what he does, that's not easy," Schwerkolt said.
"Since coming into Team 18, he's brought a huge amount of experience and energy to the group. He's played a big part in where we're heading as a team, and that Bathurst podium last year was a great example of what he can do."
Authentic Character Resonates
"But more than that, he's just a genuine character. What you see is what you get with Dave, and that's why fans love him. He brings personality to the sport, and you need that. We're really proud to have him with us for this milestone," Schwerkolt added.
The 500 race milestone places Reynolds among the sport's most experienced competitors, achieved through nearly two decades of consistent performance at the highest level of Australian motorsport. His longevity reflects both the physical and mental demands of competing in Supercars, where maintaining competitiveness over extended careers separates elite performers from the field.
For Snowy River Caravans, the partnership with Team 18 and Reynolds extends the manufacturer's motorsport presence following the departure of former ambassador James Courtney. The alignment emphasises shared values of resilience, performance, and authentic engagement with customers and fans, positioning the brand alongside one of Supercars' most recognisable and enduring personalities.
