Living The Dreamliner

Let’s face it, we only have one life to live, so why not live the dream – in your River Dreamliner caravan, of course. And remember, “big is beautiful” with this majestic 23’6” luxury apartment on wheels.

The Dreamliner 23’6” Rear Door Club Lounge is indeed a burger with the lot for discerning travellers that demand voluptuous use of space, combined with chic’ creature comforts. She’s built on strong foundations that make her capable of taking on Australia’s often harsh environments, both on and off the beaten track. You will feel pampered with features, layout and accessories that ensure your maximised pleasure in that ultimate bucket list destination.

River Caravans is a second-generation manufacturer whose DNA originated with the famous G&S Chassis some 44 years ago. They began manufacturing River Caravans in 2010, utilising their long experience. After the eventual sale of G&S, they introduced their own premium chassis construction under the name C & R Chassis.

Strong Bones

This strong skeleton is superbly manufactured, featuring a 6” Supergal chassis and drawbar, which is fully welded back to the spring hangers for ultimate strength, plus there’s a 6” riser for clearance. The A-frame drawbar includes 50mm ball coupling, handbrake, removable jockey wheel, twin 9kg gas bottles, standard electricals, Dexter stability control and TrailSafe breakaway for the 12” electric brakes. Plus, there’s a large twin segmented tool box with twin generator slides made from black powder-coated/painted checker plate, as is the high-wear surface in front of the main shell.

She rides on the dependable Cruisemaster XT trailing arm independent suspension with 16” All-terrain tyres on attractive mags.  There’s a good amount of wheel clearance and surprising recovery angles, plus all the electricals and plumbing are mounted securely to avoid interference on rougher roads. You won’t be wanting for water with twin 95 litre tanks plus a further 95 litre unit devoted to grey waste, and all are well shrouded from damage and wear.

RV Eye Candy

Aesthetically, she looks terrific, all dressed up with her black checker plate protection skirts and smooth, insulated alloy composite construction. It has an appealing combination of light grey, black, and even aqua accents that look modern and sporty. Overhead, a single-section contoured fibreglass roof ensures there are no leaking seams and maximised run-off.

There’s plenty of room for all your accessories with full width boot in the front and rear with a good range of external fittings including folding picnic table, entertainment box, both external and internal speakers for the Fusion sound system, security door with mesh screen, external shower, full length pull out awning, Ranger double glazed windows with internal blinds and awnings, Winegard TV antenna for the portable 28” Smart TV, Ibis 4 air conditioner, three 3-way Ranger hatches with internal LED’s plus a couple of smaller units for the shower and ensuite. Our demonstrator had twin 150-watt solar panels feeding two 120-AMP AGM batteries. There’s a reversing camera on the rear and a three-arm bumper bar with a spare wheel attached. I was impressed with a pair of large windows also in the rear that stream light and fresh air into the large rear club lounge. The entire unit features a good selection of LED trailer and mood lighting.

Club Lounge and So Much More!

A simple step up into the Dreamliner and you are treated to RV eye candy with the finishes, textures, flow, layout and creature comforts. I simply love caravans with a rear door and a large club lounge, and you will always be the centre of entertainment when friends arrive due to their inviting hospitality. The gleaming white cabinetry and walls combine beautifully with the black fixtures, taupe drawer fronts and splashbacks, tinted windows, faux timber floor, Italian marble laminates and magnificent taupe thickly padded leather upholstery with headrests on the convertible club lounge.

She flows through to the mid-mounted kitchen complete with an Aussie-made Swift 4-burner cooktop with grill and oven, range hood, black razor ceramic sink and tapware set over a good set of kitchen drawers and pot cupboards with a microwave set into the overhead cabinets on the kerb side. Opposite is a convenient commode of large drawers plus a large 224 litre fridge freezer, followed by twin upright pull-out pantries, completing a very well presented and accessorised galley. I was also impressed to learn that all of the cabinetry is made from 22 mm plywood and all its fittings and hinges are of premium quality.

This Dreamliner has the walkthrough bathroom between the forward cabin and the kitchen with dual sliding doors. The layout makes good sense, particularly if family or guests join you. The ensuite is fully equipped, complete with a ceramic toilet, a mirror, a deep vanity bowl with mixer tap, a top-loading washing machine and a moulded full-height shower opposite. The vanity cabinet is quite high but there’s tonnes of practical storage particularly with the inclusion of a large wardrobe also in the ensuite area.

I like the fact that you can fully enclose yourself for privacy in the forward bedroom, with its sliding door flowing from the ensuite. The bedroom itself is a very inviting affair, with a luscious Queen bed with a pillowtop mattress surrounded by drawers, wardrobes, and overheads, plus the lift-up cavity beneath and handy corner cabinets.

Power Me Up!

To manage all of your power needs, River has fitted the popular BM Pro 35 HA BMS (lithium-compatible) with an Odyssey control panel, which allows mobile app-driven monitoring and switching of all functions, including solar regulator, water monitors, lighting, and fusing.

The River Dreamliner 23’6” Rear Door Club Lounge truly provides mobile living at its best. In fact, it’s so capable and comfortable that you will want to continue making those dreams become reality indefinitely.
