Jawa Outlander Camper Trailer Review (Silver Pack)
Australia's lucky campers are presented with a virtual plethora of top-notch forward-fold campers. We see them everywhere exploring the country. Hence, manufacturers are stepping up to the competition to offer the best features and value for money.
Queensland's Jawa Campers is a standout competitor, and it's no surprise given the passion of owners Jay and Wayne Hinchsliff. The brand's logo, featuring palm trees against a sunset, says it all: Jawa Campers are about making memories.
The Jawa Outlander is a ripper! Its silver baked enamel finish, polished alloy trims, and black highlights stand out with an eye-catching presentation. But what really sets it apart is the massive rear storage boot, which is perfect for stashing annexe gear and poles. The clever design provides easy access via a tilting bumper frame that retains the spare wheel, and is well-secured with a lockable, dust-sealed hatch. The cutaway angles also give it a sleek look.
True Off-Road Camper Trailer

Being a keen fisherman, I was pleased to see that the demonstration Jawa Outlander we checked out had a ripper boat/luggage rack up on top, plus a further full-width rack that would be great for firewood above the forward box section.
Up front, the 100 x 50 x 4mm A-frame drawbar features a 2000kg polyblock coupling, grab bar, handbrake, premium Ark jockey wheel, Anderson plug, and a stone screen with hinged checker plate wings protecting gas bottles and jerry cans.
The Outlander is built on a full box-section chassis that rides on Jawa's own independent trailing arm suspension and twin shock absorbers with coil springs. It's built to handle rough tracks and roads, with 12" electric brakes, adjustable camber, and a Zincanneal tub treated with protective body deadener. All of the plumbing and wiring is safely tucked away, and the dust and water protection is top-notch, with automotive-grade seals and compression locks. Wind-down legs on each corner and rear recovery points add to the Outlander's tough credentials.
The ATM is 1990kg, with a 100kg ball weight and 1460kg tare weight, allowing quite reasonable load availability. Underneath, a 120L stainless steel water tank and a 35L front tank leave around 300kg for accessories. It rolls on 265/75/16" Mud terrain tyres with alloy mags that look sharp with the silver baked enamel finish.
Set Me Up

Unlike so many competitors, the Jawa Outlander's setup is a breeze! The boys took just six minutes to get it ready for an overnight stay, and adding the annexe was almost as easy. The 5m x 1.75m tent pops up quickly, thanks to its auto-erecting tropical roof and sturdy poles, which quickly frame the interior. The cantilevered doorway and stairwell are safe and easy to use (again, unlike many), and the single-fold design is a winner for couples or small families, as opposed to those with an extender that often get heavy and tedious.
The 5 x 2.4m annexe goes up in no time! Wayne emphasised that he only uses galvanised poles, as he has found considerable trouble with lighter-weight aluminium options. The drop-down walls and removable floor make it perfect for more extended stays, but obviously take longer to erect. Wayne then broke out the cordless drill as he replaced brittle tent pegs with 200mm baton screws that work superbly, especially in hard and rocky ground. The Outlander package comes with everything you need, including removable walls, floor, and draft skirt, all with high-quality zips and Velcro to make life easier. It's clear that Jawa Campers has thought of it all, drawing on their experience.

What's Inside?
The Outlander's interior is a treat, featuring a Queen bed up front (with a high-density foam mattress) and a convertible U-shaped lounge/dinette with the table insert that transforms into a double bed. The trim and upholstery are very practical and well-presented, featuring plush cushions, faux timber flooring, and numerous steel storage compartments. You'll find a portable TV monitor, two 100-AMP deep-cycle batteries, and an Anderson plug for charging from the tow vehicle, or a 200KW portable solar panel.

The 12V LED lighting is extensive, featuring sensor lights and numerous USB sockets. An external compartment houses the battery management system, isolator, and LED indicators. The sound system is a winner, featuring CD/MP3/USB and Bluetooth connectivity, making it perfect for both outdoor/indoor entertaining.

The deluxe stainless steel slide-out kitchen at the rear features a pressurised cold water sink, 4-burner stove, and cutlery drawers. A deep pull-out pantry and fridge compartment complete the setup, with an Evakool RV62L fridge/freezer included in the "Silver" pack. The forward compartment is pressurised, with a large storage space opposite the fridge.

The Outlander Package
The Outlander package comes with some awesome and most relevant extras for your adventure. These include a freestanding canvas en-suite tent, a porta-loo, a shower, a touring awning, and wheel chocks. The "Silver Pack" option provides terrific value for money. It includes a side-folding boat/luggage rack, a "firewood rack", a TC monitor, a 200W solar panel, a portable gas hot water, and a stainless steel kitchen.
Jawa Campers offers a range of options and accessories, tailoring packages to suit individual needs. The Outlander's quality build and feature list make it a ripper value for the price. This is a company that genuinely cares about quality products, and the addition of the rear annexe and pole carrier, plus some nice personalisation, sets it high on the ladder in a very competitive field. It certainly left me quacking with the ducks that arrived to share our Outlander home away from home!!
