Jawa Cruiser Silver Series Cruiser Review
Bear's Best Camper Reviews
The camper trailer market is thriving, particularly in southern Queensland, where manufacturers are driven to deliver top-quality products with innovative designs, extensive fittings, and accessories at competitive prices. Fresh from that new breed, the Jawa Cruiser is a standout forward folding model that offers tremendous appeal and capability at an attractive price point. With a decade of experience in the camper industry, Jawa has established a strong reputation for building a wide range of campers, including their popular Trax 12 and 15 Hybrids for Australia.
I've used, travelled with and tested Jawa Campers and always found them terrific companions that I would be proud to own. Plus, I have put them through many rigors of hard off road conditions including beaches, outback and steep high country mountain climbs.
Whilst hybrid popularity is overtaking the market, forward fold campers are still most popular due to their compact dimensions and lower weight. I believe they make an attractive option for entry-level campers and seasoned off-road enthusiasts alike.
With overall specifications of 1390kg tare, 1990kg ATM and 90kg ball weight, plus an overall length of 5200mm, width 1880mm and a low height of just 1520mm the Silver Series Cruiser provides ample loading capacity for camping essentials at a very reasonable towing weight and dimension.
A Tough & Easy Camper Trailer
The Cruiser's forward folding design allows for easy setup and pack-up. The camper sits on heavy-duty independent coil spring suspension with double shock absorbers, providing excellent ground clearance for tackling rough terrain. Additional features include 12" electric brakes, adjustable camber, and sturdy 265/75/16" Mud terrain tyres on attractive 16" alloy mags creating sure footed tracking even in the rough and tumble. The Cruiser's rugged yet stylish design makes it an excellent choice for campers seeking adventure and comfort. The design and manufactured quality is excellent, but so too is the attractive external appeal with the deep tub that is finished in a hardy, silver baked enamel paint.
The Jawa Cruiser's drawbar is a sturdy, fully welded box section construction, featuring an ADR-approved 2000kg poly block coupling, grab bar, and premium Ark jockey wheel. I was pleased to see a strong stone screen with replaceable mesh protecting the jerry can and gas bottle racks.
The main chassis is built with longevity in mind, using hot-dipped galvanised steel and a design that minimises obstructions underneath. Other features include 120L and 35L stainless steel water tanks with checker plate bash guards, protective deadener applied to the floor and chassis to reduce wear from sand and rock, twin recovery points at the rear, four retractable stabilisers for added stability and Jawa-embossed mud flaps with a tropical company logo.
Stylish Design & Smart Features
The Cruiser's main body is well-constructed and visually appealing, with a colour scheme that combines silver paint with checker plate edge trims and two-tone canvas. It simply looks great!
Inside you will be pleased to find a fresh and clean interior with white steel cabinetry and faux timber vinyl flooring. The canvas tent features large windows with inner and outer awnings, as well as fine mesh flyscreens.
Around the back, the rear half-boot provides practical storage for annexe poles and features a mounting point for the spare wheel plus a handy toolbox. Assembly is made very simple with gas strut assistance and winches both ends. One minor quibble is the fixed winch on the rear corner, which could be easily replaced with a detachable handle for added convenience.
Whilst many competitors offerings are difficult to assemble, (and who needs that after a long day on the road!) setting up the Jawa Cruiser is a breeze, taking just six minutes for an overnighter. The annexe construction is also straightforward, and the premium quality tent features:
-
automatic erecting tropical roof,
-
double stitching and heavily reinforced wear points,
-
inner and outer awnings with easy setup poles
-
YKK zips
-
El fresco, café-style opening on the living side
-
Cabin divider for privacy in the forward Queen bed enclosure.
Comfort & Convenience Inside
Inside the Cruiser, you'll find the traditional forward fold layout with U-shaped convertible dinette and drop-down table. There are storage lockers under the benches plus adjustable strip lighting and plenty of 12V and USB outlets. The Cruiser's interior features a full steel construction with a step for the Queen bed adding more storage room to the external pantry.
The sound system includes: - CD/MP3/USB Bluetooth connectivity with two speakers, plus convenient night-time access to light and power switches. The 5 x 2.4 metre annexe is easy to set up, with a strong outside frame and removable walls, floor, and draft skirt for longer stays.
Jawa has taken dust and water progression very seriously, as they should for this off-road style camper. They have fitted premium automotive seals and compression locks to all external components.
Effortless Living and Outdoor Cooking
The Cruiser's layout and facilities are designed for comfortable living, and easy living providing the essentials of water, cooking, cool storage and electrical power in sensible supply. Other features include:
-
Slide-out stainless steel kitchen featuring a 4-burner gas stove and sink
-
Pressurized cold water system and extended preparation bench
-
Sliding fridge tray suitable for large portable fridge/freezers
-
2 x 100Amp deep cycle batteries with digital volt meter and 240V battery charger
-
Optional solar panel charging and towing vehicle charging via 50Amp Anderson plug
-
Fused switch panel with isolator/circuit breaker
-
LED power and water indicators
-
Lockable safe and water fillers
-
Sensor-style LED lighting in front hatches for easy night-time access
The Jawa Cruiser's kitchen is a highlight, featuring a slide-out stainless steel design with an extended preparation bench, cutlery drawer with liner, 4-burner gas stove with 3-sided wind deflector and a sink with pressurized cold water with a stainless steel drying rack/shelf and portable gas hot water system in the Silver Series options.
The kitchen is complemented by a sliding fridge tray suitable for large portable fridge/freezers, a pantry drawer with storage above, plus large storage areas on the driver's side.
Power and Practicality in the Jawa Cruiser
The electrical system is well-designed, with:
-
Fused switch panel managing 2 x 100Amp deep cycle batteries
-
Digital volt meter and 240V battery charger
-
Optional solar panel charging and towing vehicle charging via 50Amp Anderson plug
-
Sensor-style LED lighting in front hatches
The demonstration unit we tested was part of the "Silver Series" package, which adds a side-folding boat/luggage rack, the stainless steel kitchen drying rack/shelf, 200W portable solar panels and the previously mentioned portable gas hot water system creating a very comprehensive package at a value packed price.
The Wrap
The Jawa Cruiser is a rugged and capable camper trailer that's perfect for singles, couples, mates or families. Its forward fold configuration provides ample living space, and its high-quality materials and construction ensure it can withstand the demands of off-road adventures. The Cruiser's assembly of standard and optional components is impressive, making it a great choice for those who want a reliable and feature-packed camper trailer.
