Hitch Campers: built for the bush, backed by community
At this year’s CreditOne/OnlyVans event, Hitch Campers didn’t just show up, they stood out. Represented by Luke Pearce, the Gold Coast-based manufacturer has built its name on honest design, local craftsmanship, and a hands-on relationship with its owners.
The Hitch story kicked off in 2017 when a father-and-son duo decided to build the camper they wanted to use. That first unit sparked a lineup of four distinct models: the Madigan hybrid, the Canning pod trailer, the Gib toy hauler, and the OTT expedition truck series.
Every one of them is designed, engineered, and built in Australia using local materials and labour. It’s a point of pride, and a non-negotiable. From the start, Hitch invested in proper engineering, design specialists, CNC tools, laser cutting.
That precision shows in every chassis and body, keeping builds lightweight but tough. The Madigan model on display proved the point: 1,200kg payload, up to 300-litres of fresh water, and a power setup boasting over 1,200 amps of lithium storage paired, with 1,300 watts of solar.

It’s a rolling power bank that recharges itself while you travel. Innovation runs deeper than spec sheets too. Hitch is the only fully sealed pop-top camper on the market, no canvas, no leaks, along with self-levelling suspension, all-electric systems and induction cooking.
It has a full off-grid capability (air con, heating, hot water included) keep it ahead of the curve. With Redarc electronics and Cruise Master suspension, service coverage is nationwide. But it’s Hitch’s connection to their community that sets them apart.
They run Hitch Owners trips, support active Facebook groups, and camp alongside their customers. That personal touch has built a loyal following, with some owners having clocked over 150,000km in their trailers.
Feedback flows in from service check-ins, road trips, and campfire chats, and it shapes every build. Servicing is handled in-house, with trusted partners in Perth and Victoria. Premium Aussie components mean reliability stays high as well.
The team even checks in post-delivery, walking buyers through pre-travel checklists and offering ongoing support to keep confidence high from day one. The Madigan range enters full production in January, with new layouts to include family and ensuite options.
An updated Canning pod trailer lands in 2026, followed by the larger Gib XL and expanded expedition truck offerings - including dual cab builds. But Hitch isn’t chasing volume or endless floorplans. They’re focused on what they do best: durable, thoughtful campers.
In a market flooded with imports, their mix of engineering, innovation, and family-driven values keeps Australian manufacturing firmly on the map.
