Bushtracker delivers on 30 years of going further
Three decades is a long time to stay ahead in a niche market, but Bushtracker hasn’t just survived, it’s led. Born from frustration and forged in the outback, the brand was built by two lifelong four-wheel drivers who wanted a caravan that could handle Australia’s harsh terrain.
More importantly, it still had to deliver a hot shower at day’s end. That idea helped shape the modern off-road caravan industry. That’s why their mission hasn’t changed: build caravans that last a lifetime.
Every model starts as a blank canvas, no cookie-cutter layouts, no off-the-shelf cabinetry. From floor plan to finish, each van is tailored to the customer and built entirely in-house. It’s not assembly-line work. It’s craftsmanship.
The result feels more like a mobile home than a caravan, with a design process that mirrors residential construction, including floor plans, elevations, and finishes, all mapped from the ground up.
The company’s reputation for “built tough” vans sees them still servicing their earliest vans, proof that planned obsolescence isn’t part of their story. Every build passes through a rigorous quality management system too.
There are checks at every stage and a final inspection that leaves nothing to chance. Colour, fitment, finish - everything is verified before a single key changes hands. Bushtracker hasn’t just duplicated their process from 30 years ago either. They’ve innovated.

Always considered ahead of the curve, they were the first to apply checker plate to the lower sections of their vans. That same pioneering mindset drives their current energy systems. As the industry shifts away from gas, Bushtracker is leaning into electric independence.
Some models now pack up to 2,400 watts of solar, including a 1,000-watt solar awning. That’s enough to stay off-grid indefinitely, provided the sun plays nice. What truly sets Bushtracker apart though is the community.
What started as owners swapping stories online has grown into a formal group with a committee and annual nationwide gatherings. Their latest event in Barmera, SA, saw around 70 vans and double the number of people come together to celebrate Bushtracker.
That kind of loyalty doesn’t come from clever branding, it comes from building something that lasts. Their focus is on refining designs, integrating new tech, and evolving alongside their customers, many of whom spark the next round of innovation.
Thirty years in, Bushtracker continues to balance toughness with comfort. It’s a brand built not just to go further, but to endure- helping Australian travellers venture deeper into the unknown, knowing home is always just a few steps away.
